SKIN AND LIFESTYLE INFLUENCES
It is not advised to undergo Micropigmentation if you suffer with excessive oily skin around the brows, you sweat heavily or take part in heavy exercising which results in sweating around your brows on a regular basis. The use of regular sun beds or sunbathing can damage the area around the brows and create changes in the melatonin and collagen of the skin. Due to the above factors, excess sebum (oily skins), UV rays and sweat play a significant role in reducing the pigment retention both during and after treatment. These factors can compromise the overall end result however if you did decide to go for it , it would be recommended you would benefit more from shading techniques using a Permanent Make Up Machine such as powder brows.
CONSIDERATIONS FOR TREATMENT
Treatment can be considered for the following but you will need to produce a signed Medical Note/Doctors Note/Approval. Please download the Doctors Medical Note under the Forms section
GENERAL HEALTH AND ANTIBIOTICS
If you are feeling unwell or are taking a prescribed course of Antibiotics your immune system is compromised. Undergoing treatment would put you at a higher risk of infection.
BLOOD THINNERS – ANTICOAGULANTS
If you have been taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Heparin for a long period of time it may reduce clotting time. It will result in a longer healing period, bruising, increased bleeding and compromise the pigment placed.
TOPICAL STEROIDS
If you are current using or have recently been using Topical Steroids your skin may be too fragile to undergo treatment. Please obtain a Medical Note from your GP to confirm your skin is no longer fragile and it is safe to have Micropigmentation
HERPES SIMPLEX
If you suffer from Coldsores/blisters you must discuss this prior to treatment. If you suffer with regular breakouts you will need to speak with your doctor to obtain Zovirax or Acyclovir to start 7 days before treatment.
AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE AND HIV
You will need a Medical Note from your GP to confirm treatment can go ahead. This is for your safety and well-being.
WHAT TO AVOID BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT- BOTOX, HOLIDAYS
BOTOX
It is highly advised to have your micropigmentation done prior to any Botox treatment. If you have recently had Botox around your eyes, forehead and brows you will need to wait at least 4 weeks after having the Botox before you can be considered for micropigmentation. Failure to do so may result in unevenly placed pigment and an undesirable overall result and brows that are not in the correct place. You can have the Botox after your micropigmentation providing you are not injected in the same area as your semi permanent makeup. However, this may carry a higher risk of infection.
FACE CREAMS
You need to have stopped using any products with Retin-A or Retinols at least 7 days before the treatment and do not use on or around the immediate area of the micropigmentation for 30 days
HOLIDAYS
If you are due to go on holiday where you will be sunbathing during your recovery time the pigment will be compromised and further work will likely be required. You will be unable to get the brows fully immersed in water during the healing process. Please wait and rebook at a later date.
SKIN SORES, BLEMISHES OR IRRITATIONS
Pimples or blemishes, cold sores, sunburn, bites or other skin irritations on the area of the micropigmentation will need to be healed before treatment. If you have a mole in the are of the brow, treatment will be placed around it and not on the mole.
TREATMENTS TO AVOID
Please avoid the following treatments for at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment and until you Micropigmentation is fully healed. Any Facial Scrubs, Microdermabrasion’s, Microneedling, Chemical Peels, Million Dollar Facials, dermal Rollers etc
The use of scrubs and exfoliating on your freshly done permanent/lips brows at home or in a salon can reduce their retention and may result in additional Top Ups or Colour Boost appointments.
SCARS
If you have a scar near the area of the brow/lips, treatment will be dependent on the scars’ tissue structure. If you have any new scars on the area to be Micropigmented, it will need to have at least one year of healing. If you are prone to scarring, it is not advised to have micropigmentation.
